Haven't posted in ages but it's been quite an eventful summer music-wise. Here's just a quick snapshot of some of the music I saw this summer.

New Pornographers at Battery Park during the 4th July

The Decemberists w/Grizzly Bear at Central Park Summerstage

Siren's Festival: Elvis Perkins, Lavender Diamond, Matt & Kim, M.I.A.

Band of Horses Will Sheff (Okkervil River) at SoundFix

Revenge of the Bookeaters: A.C. Newman (New Pornographers), Feist, Britt Daniel (Spoon), Grizzly Bear

Wow, now that I think of it this summer made me remember all that is magical about summer in New York. Seriously who needs the Hamptons when the city is tailor made for arts and culture enthusiasts.

I just discovered the joys of KEXP podcasts. Yes, I've known about KEXP for years even though I live 3,000 miles away (thanks to my Seattle by way of San Luis Obispo friend Christy). Hallelujah, holy moly and all sorts of other exclamations...

Here's just a snapshot of live performances available on their podcast (with the exception of Sparklehorse, taken from SXSW): Sparklehorse The Stooges Okkervil River Under Byen Beirut Peter Bjorn and John The Holloways Fujiya & Miyagi Apples in Stereo

Yes, those are KEXP is a great station. I listen to them online several times a week and subscribe to their podcasts.

Me too. They have a major influence on my music collection. I started listening late 2005....I think. I was so sick of radio and constantly felt that I was missing out on a lot of great music. That has changed. Thanks to them I have gotten to know and grown to love so many great bands.
