WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

My first Stone Roses post!

Posted over 3 years ago
Well, it's only taken me about 5 blog posts to get around to my first Stone Roses post :) I'm de-flowering my blog! (Actually, I'm surprised I haven't written about U2 yet... though no one here yet knows, and my mog has not yet revealed that I'm a die-hard U2 fan...)I'm a fairly recent convert to the Roses, and I've fallen mighty hard for them. Unlike most of the other Roses fans I've talked to, I was too young to catch these guys the first time around. I came to them at the end of last year, after hearing much talk about how they influenced and jumpstarted pretty much every band of the past almost two decades now. So I picked up "The Stone Roses" and I was blown away. There's a reason this debut album is consistently ranked as one of the top debut albums of all time. And it's indescribable to the uninitiated... It's not only the music, though. The funky beats, strange sound effects & noises, the guitar, and Ian's graceful vocals. There's a message and world philosophy that connected with me. The Roses are fun and substantial at the same time. And this is primarily what has made me an avid fan. I can blast these songs while driving in the car, or I can listen to them on the iPod and always find something new about the sound: a lick, a vocal inflection, a lyric... something is renewed each time I hear these songs. Now I've been deflowered... I guess it's bound to happen while living in a musical nudist colony ;)

  1. BellaVendetta says Congrats! But do yourself a favor, don't buy any Ian Brown solo work or it will ruin the whole experience for you.
