Okay, I'm probably one of the few people in the world who dislike this band but meh. Anyways, I've been informed that they will be releasing their first single for free downloads.
According to the BBC News, it will be free to download for one week starting Tuesday on their website. So kiddies, you have exactly four hours left to download.
Well guys, spent all weekend doing stuff I shouldn't of been doing..moon bounce anyone? Anyways, after realizing I probably should post more often here, I'm glad to report that the DAM interview went well and I will be posting some stuff soon. Working at the mag is pretty tiring at times and some of our editorial staff hasn't been home in two days - damn deadlines and uploads and ads! Anyways, I was lucky enough that I'm freelance so I've slept and found a great muxtape from Houston Press music editor, John Nova Lomax, focusing on Houston bands. So, here it is I post and listen at your own discretion.
I know, I know. It seems like every time I get on here I have a new request. This time it's with the Palestinian band DAM, which I'm interviewing sometime this week - unsure when - but would like some insight into any questions you might be interested in asking.
They're a hip hop group, influenced by KRS1 and Public Enemy, and they deal with urban strife - obviously more than that - and their status as second class citizens living in Israel. Any questions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow I don't know. Your question prompted me to read a ton about them. Had they always been into hip hop? I mean why go that route rather than say something harder like metal. If the aim is to shake up then why go the ghetto route? Is it because they want to attract more attention rather than put forth a musical assualt. There's a lot going on with this group. Thanks for pointing them out and good luck with it.
I have a feeling this can be an amazing interview! I think you in a unique spot that might be able to really give us a better perspective of what's going on out there.
There is a lot of stuff I'd like to ask these guys, but don't know how you could work it in. Considering this meeting is in the scope of a music piece you can't really go in too deep of waters, but I think you should try. Maybe you can ask them stuff like what are the concert halls like out there, the shows, are they segregated, do Israelis and Palestinians ever start bands with each other? You could also get into stuff like "What Israeli music do you like?" Just some quick ideas, but I'm sure you'll do fine.
Be sure you post it on Mog, too!
This is the first I've heard of DAM, but in response to what FSpume was saying about why hip hop - it's my understanding that metal bands have been banned and heavily oppressed until very recently. Not sure if Palestine is included in that, but I thought this was the case. Could it be that hip hop is irrepressible? Though, spoken word seems more dangerous than metal vocals, which are usually very hard to understand...
