  2. PhilKam says The New Danger was Mos Def's intention to bring back rock to hip hop (I guess as he's been wanting to do that since Black Jack Johnson). This time in true magic, he seems to got more of an approach from the rap side, yet putting in his soulful, laidback singing style that brought his name to the crowd in late 90's. Beats might be an off to some people, but to me it's fine. Or at least, it works for Mos (but certainly not other rappers who need big productions for their sales). Overall, I'm happy to see Mos came back with a hiphop album that's virtually different from anything out there, especially after the hollywood busters this guy did in last few years. Being original is always what special about Mos as an artist. But somehow, I got this gut feeling that it could be better. Which could be due to the fact that I still indulge myself in the good times of Black Star and Black on Both Sides, when Mos (and Kweli) came on FRESH. So it could be just me.
