Goody Two Shoes - (Original October 1982 Album Release)
And this song, while hardly his most wacky - that honor more rightly belongs to "Picasso Visita El Planeta De Los Simios (Pablo Picasso Visits The Planet of The Apes)" - is probably his most streamlined, manic and irresistibly rocking cut. ??And its message really is good for kids!??If you need me, I'll be in the corner with headphones, this sucker on repeat...

He prefigured rap in that many, many of his songs concerned themselves with real or imagined foes lying in wait to cut him down, and his determination to come out on top.
That's not so hilarious.
"Ant was poised to join the '80s-focused Here & Now tour in early 2002, but was unable to do so after he was charged with threatening members of the public with an imitation firearm in a London pub. The court also ordered that he undertake rehabilitation, although he was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder." ~Wikipedia
As I recall, revellers at the pub reportedly shouted taunting remarks about Ant's appearance. He left and returned with the imitation firearm.

Rather than wait for someone else to correct a statement made above, I'll do it myself. Ant had acquired a huge fan base by 1979 and rode the tidal wave of commercialized New Wave which, if memory serves, crashed prior to the tidal wave of commercialized rap. Still, it might have been more accurate to say that Ant was "in step" with a main preoccupation of much early, and current, rap music.

There's also that B-side about "if I come on the night, can I get in the door", where he's riffing on the famous people he "knows" and therefore should be on the guest list. Which sounds pretty much like half the boasting raps about how cool said rapper is.
