I know you'll tackle me and beat me up for saying this, but I've never been a Bruce Springsteen fan. However, I am totally digging his recording of the songs of Pete Seeger with the shovel of love. Here's me driving down the street wailing "OH Mary don'tcha WEEP no more, Oh MARY don'tcha WEEP NO MORE" and slamming on the steering wheel, scaring all the local children. You can't help it."Old Dan Tucker," the first cut, also rocks. And there are other gorgeous songs like "Shenandoah" and "Erie Canal" and that splendid anthem of the civil rights movement, "We Shall Overcome." The really irritating thing about this CD was that it was protected by the Department of Homeland Security or something and I was unable to load it directly into my computer to copy it for my i-Pod. Excuse me, Bruce, I BOUGHT the CD. Why all the hassle? I wound up having to copy the CD onto another CD and THEN transfer it to i-Tunes. This sort of thing makes me cranky, just like it makes me cranky not to be able to upload mp3's to share with ya'll. But I'm getting a new computer in a few weeks; maybe that will help.
