The Devil Came on Horseback

Posted almost 5 years ago
Friends:I wanted to send a quick shout about a wonderful film I recently had the privilege of scoring - The Devil Came on Horseback - a documentary exposing the genocide currently raging in Darfur, Sudan. The film illustrates, in concise and striking detail, the atrocities occurring in the region, as seen through the eyes of a former US Marine, who happened to be stationed in area as an African Union peacekeeping monitor and documented the violence in photographs and video. The film premiered to great acclaim this winter at Sundance and is currently making the rounds on the festival circuit. It is indeed a rare honor to be involved in a project that has the potential to impact real change, and I strongly urge everyone to spread the word about the film and to support it in any way possible. To learn more about the movie and/or get involved, please visit:http://thedevilcameonhorseback.com orhttp://www.myspace.com/thedevilcameonhorsebackHere is an audio sample from the score. And a couple of video clips from the filmThe Devil Came On Horseback

  2. kat3260 says Something needs to be done over there. Seems like people are more worried about the impact on the freakin' soft-drink industry than the genocide, since Ukec threatened to stop exporting gum arabic. Thanks for sharing that bit of the score - sounds perfect for the topic.

  7. moovyphreak says Thanks for bringing this film to our attention. I serve on a film board with a local arts initiative and have submitted this film as a potential candidate to be shown in the coming months, if we can get a copy of the DVD. We've quickly learned that we draw our best audiences with thought-provoking documentaries followed by an audience discussion with a panel of local professors, experts, etc.

  9. mattjamcr says i think this marine you refer to came to my university and gave a speech on the same topic. It was an entire week long event raising darfur awareness. such a horrible thing but then again its seems very difficult to get accurate news on the subject. the us ambassador to sudan spoke on csapn the other day saying the country was united now, whatever the hell that means.
