Friends.

One April evening, Mary had an essay to write. She only had one evening to complete it before the 9:00 a.m. due date, so she took out the bottle of Adderall she bought from her roommate with intentions of taking a few pills. The ideas kept popping into her head. Instead of two, why not four? Why swallow when you can snort? Mary laughed as she recoiled from her desk and wiped what was left of the ground-up pills off her right nostril. What a novel idea. She brought out her art history texts and began flying through the pages searching for references. She got everything she needed. She got everything she needed and more. Mary held a page on Lichtenstein open with her index finger. When she stopped typing long enough to check the date of the painting she was pointing to, she noticed a cockroach on her hand. She threw the book and screamed, but the cockroach didn't leave her hand. She kept screaming as she noticed ceentipedes crawling up her legs. When her roommate burst back into the room, Mary was laying on the floor and yelling in a cold sweat. There were thousands of bugs, and they all wanted to claim her. Her roommate and other girls on her floor hoisted Mary up onto her bed. It was there that they restrained her by force, as she had started to kick. One of the girls tried shoving a Valium in her mouth, but Mary was screaming and biting far too much to make that endeavor a success. With four girls on each side of the bed holding down her body and one at the head covering her mouth, Mary continued her ascent into Hell. When I arrived at Mary's door at about this time, one of the girls informed me that she was going through drug-induced convulsions and was inside her dorm room being restrained by the entire floor. I told the girl that Mary needed help and that 911 should be called immediately. As I began to enter the room, the girl grabbed me by the arm with force I didn't expect, hurled me against the wall and said "Look, motherfucker. We're not doing this so you can fucking play superhero and go in and ruin this for all of us. Get the fuck out of here."They say you just got to have friends.
