This was easily one of the best performances I've seen in a long time, and one that I truly thought I was going to miss. It was shocking enough that I saw Ed Droste entering the venue, but I ended up getting tickets through a friend at the last minute even though it was sold out. They played a very well distributed array of old and new songs I felt, and that was complimented by their closing with "On a Neck, On a Spit", and dispursing all of their other good tracks throughout, like "Foreground" which caught me particularly through Droste's amazing vocal performance. Daniel Rossen's Guitar Playing was flawless, and Christopher Bear's drumming did a fantastic job of leading the songs amidst the controlled effects processing by the bassist Chris Taylor.
Their encore was a really well sung and harmonized acoustic track that served as an excellent closer to an even better set.

So I have heard a lot about this band. Where should I start and what are some points of reference to other artists?
Well they all sing, and in that respect they're kinda Beach Boys, or pet shop sounds worthy. I liked yellow House, which was their second album, but you might want to start with Veckitamest, their new one, or even the Friend EP, which has some covers by CSS and Band of Horses. They sound similar to fleet foxes.
