T-Pain Beats Rihanna and McCartney On The Charts

Huge upset this week for both Rihanna and Paul McCartney! Rapper T-Pain was crowned the king of the charts this week beating both Jay-Z’s protégé and the former Beatle. T-Pain sold 171,000 copies of his sophomore album, Epiphany, to land at Number One. The high sales stem from heavy airplay of T-Pain’s single "Buy U a Drank,” which has climbed the singles chart in past weeks.Rihanna’s Def Jam release Good Girl Gone Bad scored the Number Two spot, selling 162,000 copies despite the fact that her single “Umbrella” is Number One on the singles chart. Paul McCartney took the Number Three spot on the chart with Memory Almost Full. Folks picked up 161,000 copies of Macca’s new album along with a venti, half-decaf, non-fat, foamy latte. Memory Almost Full was his first release on the Starbucks’ Hear Music label and was available at all of the coffee chain’s locations.R. Kelly’s album Double Up fell to the Number Four position selling 121,000 copies this week. Maroon 5 also fell from last week’s Number Two position to Number Five, selling 103,000 copies of It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.Country-pop duo Big & Rich took the Number Six position with Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace. The album sold 103,000 copies and only landed at Number Six on the Billboard 200, but took top honors on the Top Country Albums chart.Linkin Park slipped from Number Three to Number Seven. Minutes to Midnight, which was co-produced by Rick Rubin only sold, 96,000 copies this week. Marilyn Manson sold 88,000 copies of Eat Me, Drink Me to land at Number Eight. Weak considering Manson’s last album debuted at Number One.Rounding out the Top Ten this week were reggaeton star Daddy Yankee, whose El Cartel: The Big Boss sold 82,000 to land at Number Nine. Bee-hive diva Amy Winehouse fell to Number Ten. Her debut Back to Basics sold 67,000.
