Artist: Album: Greendale

Watch out Andrew Lloyd Webber, Neil Young is taking the musical theater world by storm. Mr. Young's 2003 concept album Greendale will make its theatrical premiere at the The Undermain Theatre, in Dallas, Texas. The show runs from March 29th through May 3rd, 2008.

Greendale tells the story of multi-generations of the Green family who are torn apart by murder. Other themes include environmentalism, mass media consolidation and corruption. Young took the album and directed an accompanying film under the alias Bernard Shakey and staring close friends. It was released as a DVD back in 2004 Greendale is also in the process of being turned into a graphic novel, that will be out this spring.

My friend, a HUGE Neil Young fan, saw him do this onstage and said it was embarassingly bad. I predict a quick closing. Then he can go out drinking with Paul Simon.

Ever hear of "Cape Man"? Paul Simon wrote the musical, based on the story of a Puerto Rican who was sent to prison. It closed after maybe half a dozen shows - a HUGE failure which probably cured Paul of Broadway forever.

After successfully garnering some attention stateside with thier devut album Inside In/Inside Out, Brighton indie rockers the Kooks will head to the state to preview their sophomore album Konk. Will the Kooks win over the US as they've won over their UK homeland? Inside In/Inside Out went platinum four times in the UK and peaked at Number Two. In the US the band only sold 100,000 copies of the debut and it only peaked at Number 164 on the Top 200.

The two intimate Kooks preview shows for Konk are scheduled for Thursday, February 7th, 2008 at Los Angeles' The Troubadour, and Tuesday February 12th, 2008 at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg.
