Maynard raps...and it's cool?!

Posted about 4 years ago
Maynard Keenan of Tool has a new side project. Puscifer is a place where Maynard lets his mind run wild with vocal distortion, drum machines and what almost seems like rap lyrics...and interestingly enough, it's pretty good.

Those of you who are expecting another A Perfect Circle may look elsewhere. Out of the 10 songs on the album only 2, The Undertaker and Rev 22:20, seem to ring a similar tone to that of Tool or APC. The remainder of the album draws influences from across the board. The first single from the album, Queen B, almost seems to fall into trip hop. While tracks like Indigo Children hold a tone similar to that of industrial or electronica.
That being said this album is definitely not for everyone. However if you don't love it at first listen, give it another run through before you write it off. It may just grow on you.
