THE WORLD IN SIX SONGS by DANIEL LEVITIN - BRING 'EM ALL IN
Mike Scott's song Bring 'Em All In is featured in Daniel Levitin's new book about the psychology of music, The World In Six Songs. Bring 'Em All In has been picked by Levitin to represent love and is the title of the final chapter of the book as well as being the final song detailed and quoted. Meanwhile....
The band played two shows in May, their first since the festivals of summer '08. On May 9th, Mike, Steve and new keyboard player John McCullough performed at the Glor Theatre in Ennis, Ireland, with a set comprising lots of new songs plus material from the WB Yeats project Mike is working on (news to be announced on this very soon). The show was a great success with a standing ovation and an old friend of the band, Eoin O'Neill, guested on bouzouki for the encore of Fisherman's Blues. Mike and Steve guested on Eoin's radio show at Clare FM the morning after, and a podcast is available here: http://www.clare.fm/music/ClareFM%20specials
On May 31st, joined by Carlos Hercules (drums) and Mark Smith (bass), veterans of the 2003-6 and 2007-8 tours respectively, the band played the Blues And Soul Festival in Alta, Norway, when the set again featured several new songs. Both the Ennis and Alta shows opened with the twelve-minute long A Wild Holy Band.
