I was an eager "popular" 9-12 year old when the craze of Girl/Boy bands peaked with the high point of the careers of the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Hanson, etc etc. I had every aspect of their target demographic sumed up in who I was. My 10th Birthday Party was themed Spice Girls. We would listen to Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and Chumbawamba at our parties and dance and trade Spice Girl postcards and dream of Brian from backstreet Boys.
There was always one group that never hit it big with my age group, but I was a silent supporter and listened to them over the others. S Club 7. Feel good music promoting good times, and being a good, honest person.. sure there were the sexual inuendos, but what pop music doesn't have that? Ever listen to O-Town's song, "Every Six Seconds"??
I chose to bring this love of S Club 7 forward because my iTunes has been switching to S Club 7 songs relatively often throughout today.
I am okay with admitting that I own, and still sometimes listen to, 3 of their albums. S Club, 7, and Sunshine. I refused to buy anymore S Club 7 album after the release of Sunshine, as the band lost a member and went down to being S Club 6.. that ruined it for me.
I was also a big supporter of the show. They would play it on Sundays and sometimes late at night on MuchMusic. I must have watched every episode 3 times over, dreaming about being friends with Rachel, and having Paul or Bradley fall in love with me.
I have given into the demands of my iTunes playlist and am currently listening to my S Club 7 collection.
Please watch the video below.. oh you cooky british kids and your zaney antics!!

SSSSS-CLUUUUB! i can just hear the tv show now.
Ah, I was an avid Nsync fan myself...they were my very first concert! I'm afraid I was one of those who never "got" S Club. I remember when I slept over at my friends house when I was around 9, their tv show was the first thing we watched when we woke up. I didn't really understand it...hurried home and purged my ears with Nsync, haha : P
...and proceeded to learn the 'bye bye bye' dance? haha...that is something i know nothing about (....or do i?). i think i liked backstreet boys first and then when justin had permed hair i decided i liked n sync better haha!
haha i was even clumsier when i was a kid then i am now, which is saying something...i'd end up tripping on my two left feet! I was very strongly anti-backstreet boys, Nsync were the loves of my 8-10 year old life. My first celebrity crush was Lance Bass...even then, i went for the unattainable ones : P
HAHA, i still love lance!
oh, me too, some things will never change. You never forget your first loves... - sigh-
We all had HUGE crushes on Brian from Backstreet Boys.. because he had a hole in his heart, and we all thought that we could fill the hole with our love.
I always secretly liked Kevin the best, but Brian was the favourite of my friends, so I followed suit. Then N'Sync came around and everyone was in love with Justen.. I was always for JC. He's a babe.. still.
:) i love reminiscing about the boy band days! Brian was my fave BSB too.
My cousin had the biggest crush on Brian, her room was essentially a shrine to him and the Boys...
Boy bands were a very underrated time in music. Yes, they're crap now, but back then they were the pinnacle of music. I promise you that more people my age know words to Nsync and Backstreet Boys songs than the Beatles or Rolling Stones...
