So, little known fact... I am Sony BMG recording artist, illScarlett's manager's assistant. They played a show at the Wax in Kitchener, ON tonight, and as my parents have never seen them live, or met my boss, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and bring them to tonights show.
They really enjoyed it. As did I. I haven't seen the band play so well in a long time (they are always good, but this one stood out for me). The set was pretty long (hour and a half or so??) and they maintained a great energy through the entire set. The crowd was really into it, even though it was a smaller crowd than they are used to. The Wax is a really great venue for live shows. My first show was at Planet Smashers back about 5 or 6 years ago. It was my first ska show, and ultimatly had a BIG effect on the outcome of my life thus far... I don't think I would be working in the industry if I hadn't gone to that show. My life was changed at 14 or 15.
As I was saying, the crowd was really into illScarlett tonight. For a small crowd, the number of crowd surfers was pretty up there, and everyone knew all the words to all the songs. Now, not just the radio hits, I mean ALL the songs. There were a lot of die-hards in the audience.

We were escorting around two friendly girls who had won a "Manager for the Day" contest with the S.C.E.N.E. Movie Card illScarlett Contest (the guys did a SCENE tour across Canada the past summer). They were really into it. It's nice to see fans win something so cool, and makes me realize how much I take for granted in my career. People would kill for this sort of life.
But as I was saying (once again), illScarlett did a really great job tonight. Alex (lead singer) was nailing it. The audience interaction was fantastic, and I think they made everyone leave completely satisfied.
If you have never heard of illScarlett, I recommend checking them out - www.myspace.com/illscarlett ; They are a fun band.
At the bottom I have attached their music video for Nothing Special. It was up for 5 Much Music Video Awards!
And the pics in this post are from the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto month or so ago.
And Photo Cred to the amazing Pete Nema. Go read his blog. That dude rocks!

Aww, thanks to both of you. And illScarlett does rock, especially on live on stage. Love photographing those guys, always lots of fun trying to get the right moment.
