Help me Hip to the Hop
I’m in the midst of a search at the moment for artists similar to Everlast (especially the White Trash Beautiful album) – the whole hip-hop/blues/folk thing is doing it for me. I’ve always been a huge G Love & Special Sauce fan and I see some pretty interesting musical similarities between the two… but now I want more!! I’ll often search through All-Music Guide and look for “similar artists†and “followers†to try and track down artists that might move me. A recent (for me) discovery through an Everlast fan forum has been Tony C and The Truth and I’ve tracked down a couple of nice tracks from their debut Demonophonic Blues album (which I reckon is a cool album name by the way!).So I guess I’m after the help of the brains trust here in terms of how you all go about tracking down obscure artists when all you have to go on is a “sound†and a few similar artists? And even better, if you are into this whole genre I’d love to hear your recommendations.
