OH YEEEEEEEEAH!!!! I love this song yall! This is Rick James with Ghetto Life from his classic 1981 LP Street Songs. I was way too young for this music back in the day. I do remember Rick James being spinned heavily. Street Songs has two classic tracks that have been sampled several SEVERAL! times since 1981: Give It To Me Baby and Super Freak. 25 years later in 2006 Ghetto Life would be sampled by rapper Busta Rhymes for the song In The Ghetto for his album "The Big Bang,". The song "In the Ghetto" featured Rick James' first verse of the original "Ghetto Life". Ghetto Life is a song that I, as a young man growing up in the streets of South Central, Los Angeles can relate to. Its been a rough life growing up here in the ghetto but, I am fortunate to have made it to see 26 years old going on 27 this year. This song is dedicated to all of you who grew up in the rough neighborhoods and have overcome the adversities of Ghetto Life.
