OOH WEE!!! Talk about an old school jam!!! This is it people. The SOS Band! I was 3 years old when this song was spinnin on the turntables. My father was a DJ around the time and this was a party starter. SOS Band had so many hits back in the day: Take Your Time Do It Right(another party starter!!),Dit Dit Dit Dash Dash Dash Dit Dit Dit,Tell Me If You Still Care,The Finest, and so many others!. The Sos Band start their career around the late 70s and had major success in the 80s releasing several top singles. Im not sure but I think they disbanded around the early 90s. Anyhow, this is one of my very top r&b jams right now. Hope you guys enjoy this song like I do. I thank all of you for your support, you guys are the reason I do this.

According to allmusic.com, the band formed in 1977, calling themselves "Santa Monica". They signed with Tabu records, and worked with Sadigi Abdullah, who produced and cowrote Take Your Time (Do it Right). Abdullah also convinced them to change their name to the S.O.S Band (S.O.S standing for Sound of Success).
The band later worked with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, a couple of names with which most R&B fans would be familiar.
Interesting little tidbit. I've posted a couple of videos of Maceo Parker from the DVD My Name is Maceo. The videos feature a guitar player by the name of Bruno Speight (Maceo introduces him as "Bruno Tataglia"). Speight was one of the founding members of Santa Monica/S.O.S. Band. When ya got the funk...
