Brainiac Could'a Been Something

Posted over 2 years ago
Brainiac toured like nobody's business, and were always coming through Athens, Ohio when I was in college. They could be hit or miss, and they often seemed a little too stoned, but when they were on they were great entertainment, and so unique. The bio is "here":http://www.touchandgorecords.com/bands/band.php?id=37.A truly fun band, I was eager to hear what they would have done had they produced another full length after Hissing Prigs In Static Couture. But in Spring of '97 singer Tim Taylor died in a car accident. This song was my goodbye. really it was the only rock song off of the Jim O'Rourke(!) produced EP that was mostly electronic. I personally loved the raw and strangely funky stuff off of the ...Prigs, so this song was all I had to embrace and wonder what could have been. It's a good tune, and listen for the drop out of the drums for a surprise. Oh yeah, John Schmersal went on to form Enon after the tragedy.

  1. Rawkkiddoh says I had a similar band I listened to in college called the Larkspurs. About 1 out of every 10 shows were good, but if you caught them on a good night it was so worth it
