Here's mine. I love the rhythm and drone aspect of Hooker's distinctive blues, they put me in a trance of sorts. I just recently started listening to him and only have this one album - That's Where It's At! Suggestions are appreciated for further investment.

hey Oat, I wish I could say that I had some John Lee Hooker to share, but that was definitely a dope contribution. You've inspired me; I need more blues in my life. Thanks...I'll get back to you on this one.
I forget which album it is, but pretty much any tune on it will do. It's the one where they clearly miked up the floor of the room they were recording in, and John Lee is stomping away the whole time. Plus they put a ton of echo on it, so it's completely creepy and out there.
Here's "Late Last Night," recorded by the King label in 1949 and issued under the pseudonym Texas Slim because he was under contract to different label. I got it from a King LP with a drummer dubbed in. It's available on CD now only without the drums.
Scribes: I hear you. Looking forward to it.
Mully: If you think of the title, let me know.
Thanks for the tune Spike, sadly that one is not on emusic.
The CD it's reissued on (without drums on that track) is a must-have for Hooker connoisseurs.

This should fit the bill for you - here is "House Rent Boogie" from 1958
Unfortunately my records are all packed due to lack of space, but there's a great track called something like 'Landlord Blues', which is him talking over a boogie, describing how he needed rent so he went down on the street and started busking and before long he had enough money, at which he exclaims, "Awwrighty!" Then he goes on to describe visiting his family when he needed to borrow money. He's made to feel like a pariah and they grudgingly part with the dollars. At which he says, "That's how your family do you." Classic stuff.
"House Rent Boogie" is the song you're thinking of, Mr Ingham. I'll try and post it one of these days, as it is a true mantelpiece
I am confused Baudo, didn't you post 'House Rent Boogie' it above?
Well that's what I thought Oat, but that is very different from the one I'm describing.
