I used to think that hyperdub, the label, was just dubstep. Dubstep, for the uninitiated, is bass music with syncopated drums, but half the beat is missing or at least only implied by the rolling low end and the occasional dubby effect and choppy synth. Basically it is not easily defined, but I can say that a lot of it can sound the same. Not to detract, but I have not been a huge fan. However, while I had pegged this label as dubstep only, there is actually some great stuff stretching from California beat smiths like Flying Lotus as well as some pretty adventurous Brits and Euros. Anyhow, in celebration of my finally signing up for All Access, I bring you this tasty track which I would say is way more electronic reggae than "dubstep" but who cares - you know I only aim to please.
