Juana Molina, if you have never heard her, now is the time

Posted over 3 years ago

For some late night oddness or early morning magic, this one gets under my skin. I don't know what to say about her. She has a lovely and disarming voice and has created a very ethereal sound that does not really remind me of anything else, wholly original. This track in particular lures you into the soundscape with an exotic mantra. It has a wonderful microcosmic and intimate feel while still making you feel like you are in the Andes looking over a vast space.

She's AWESOME!  Hope some people see this and give her a listen.  If you like her stuff, check out Emiliana Torrini as well.

Dreamy. Good call, Oat. Perfect for my mood on a late-night MOG bender. BTW, I hope you're enjoying the impending Mardi Gras, you lucky son of a gun. This is the first year in more than two decades that I won't be enjoying NoLa during Carnival season. Revel a little on my behalf, please.

It would be a crime not to revel. Although there is something dark and desperate about Mardi Gras too, but I can't put my finger on it. Good times.
