Oh you pretty German fiends...

While listening to the radios of the enemies (yes, I like last.fm and Pandora), I kept coming across Deine Lakaien on my darkwave radio station. Intrigued, I hunted down a copy of April Skies, their most recent album (remember, I discover material later than most people on this site). My first reaction was "Why don't more people know about this band?" Despite their mostly English lyrics, theatrica

That ol' Interpol- MSG

So Roland the Happy Music Bearer, Carnelia and I all went off to Madison Square Garden to see our very favorite band, Interpol. We walked into the middle of Liars' set, who was opening this evening. I was glad of this. My apologies to Liars fans, but they sucked live. I never heard any of their recorded material (which I should probably rectify), but the vocalist could not carry a tune. Mercifully,

Sorry about that protracted exile. I lost my internet connection over the summer (*slams head against wall*). To make up for lost time, I will do the condensed post:Interpol's Our Love to Admire: Not as good as TOTBL, better than Antics. "Pioneer to the Falls," "Wrecking Ball," "All Fired Up," "Mammoth," and "Rest My Chemistry" are amazing. "Who Do You Think" and "Pace is the Trick" are boring. Th

A favor?

Hey, sorry to bug you all, but my friend and I were forced to miss the CocoRosie show at the Warsaw in Brooklyn. If any MOGgers have photos from that concert that they don't mind sharing (they're for the NYU newspaper) and I'm sure will get credit for, would you send them on to me. Thank you, eternally grateful, etc. ~Christy

"It's NOT Interpol!"

A bar of chocolate is riding on this, by the way.Roland the Happy Music Bearer and I found on MegaUploads a purported leaked album credited to Interpol. We both listened to the first track, but came to stunningly different conclusions. He thinks its them. Due to the absence of keyboards, a lackluster bass and a voice that sounds closer to Peter Murphy of Bauhaus (most of the weight being on the...

    The Dresden Dolls, Emma Pollock

Why, oh why are the Dresden Dolls going on tour with a bunch of artists that I have to pay $50+ to see? This makes me cry buckets. I was considering trying to get tickets with my coworker (we're having a striped-stockings day in honor of Amanda Palmer soon), but alas. I don't think I can afford this. Not since I'm seeing "Weird Al" Yankovic in June with my beloved people.Emma Pollock, speaking ...

    "Dominant"

Two new albums have finally come my way thanks to my birth. I FINALLY got the double album Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and Opheliac by Emilie Autumn, a more recent intrigue of mine. I have yet to hear a bad song by the Bad Seeds. I first heard "There She Goes, My Beautiful World" on the day of my graduation party, given to me by an enlightened English teacher...

New Albums and Birthday Wishes

I finally added Playing the Angel by Depeche Mode to my collection. I wish I had a long time ago. "John the Revelator" is my favorite so far off this album. It has a fast tempo, which is surprising for a loved song by me. It rasps against "Precious," the song everyone knows off this album, but in a good way. "Paralyzing" is a good way to describe this album for me- but again in a good way, the way
