Ok gave the album a listen to a lot. I love it but they're sound has gotten dark, way dark. They were quoted in Spin magazine saying that this album had a lot of alcohol, fights, and anger contributing to it. I can definitely see that. In "Because of the Times" Caleb was saying in The Runner that "I talk to Jesus, Jesus says I'm ok." Now in their new song Cold Desert, Caleb claims that "Jesus don't love me, no one to carry my load, i'm too good to feel this cold." Seems that either they wanted to explore different sounds or their alcohol did. Sorry to bring it up, someone had to. Hope they turn things around....
On a lighter note, my favorites are Crawl, I Want You, Closer...ohh hell they're all good. As for the song Manhattan, the bass line sounds really similar to an old 80's song or a Dave song, anyone know what it is? I can't put my finger on it.
Overall I give the album a 7. Could have been better, but its good. Looking forward to the Dallas show, hope to see some of you there! Keep Rockin'.

Just feelin like sharing my favorite live version of "Down with Disease." This show was played December 1st, 1995 in Hershey, PA. '95 was an incredible year for Phish. The best years, i believe, are '95, '97 (the year of the funk), and '98. Here, Trey's skills on this particular guitar solo give me goose-bumps every time I hear it.
Man, if they get back together i am willing to hit the road and sell grilled cheese for as long as it takes.
Anywho, if this song makes you jump out of your chair and start moving like it has for me then you get an A+ in my book. If it doesn't, then i feel really sad for you.
Enjoy!

For those of you who could not make it to My Morning Jacket's show in Bonnaroo (aka Amsterdam), i'm sorry to say that you missed out. It was the most surprising and incredible night of my life. First off i want to say that during the entire show i was trying to guess what song would come on next and everytime i was wrong! Usually i get a couple right. But damn they got me good. They definitely kicked off their American tour with a bang. Songs i havent heard and songs I wanted to hear came to this show.
Just to be in the front row i got to the stage 2 hours before they started and missed Metallica just for MMJ. I got the perfect spot. Damn worth it. When they first came out Big ASS red balloons and glowsticks were thrown into the crowd. It was a glowstick war, everyone was excited. Even the band was just staring at the mayhem when they looked into the crowd.
Jim James and the crew were excited and rocked and i swear (no one will believe me) everytime there was a guitar solo the rain started to pour harder. The rain was literally cooling off the melting faces. The rain wasn't too much though, it only created a few technical difficulties but no matter, the show went on till 3:30 am.

They played some real fun and funky cover songs like "Hot Fun in the summertime", "Get Down on it", "Home Sweet Home" (Little Annie), Velvet Underground's "Oh, Sweet Nuthin", James Brown's "Cold Sweat", and others. It was one big party, ha. Fo Sho.
The biggest surprise that came was Kirk Hammet comming out and doing the solo for "One Big Holiday." And for those of you who don't like "Highly Suspicious", you will definitely love it live. It has a different feel and it rocks. Freakin Loved it.

I would tell you more about my experience but i dont want to ruin it for the rest of you, your just going to have to get your ass up and go see them for yourself!
I just got my ticket to see them again in Dallas and hopefully i can make it out to the show on New Years. I can't imagine the surprises that will be pulled at that show. Hell yes!

Well, I got my goosebumps when the red part started at about 10 o'clock. last bit of the tune. But yes, SHREDFEST. I was a big fan of the 95 fall. Few out from SF to see the Atlanta shows at the Fox. Really fun time.
And I totally agree with our last statement. Those guy just make people happy and full of energy. Put a smile on my face right here today.
Thanks for posting. Hopefully they will get it going again....
