My First Concert....Bob

Posted over 3 years ago

As I was meditating over how great Bob Dylan's writing, and music was, and how they work so well together, a thought arised in my head this summer. I have the privlage of having a man that has trully had a great effect on my life still alive, and preforming at that. So this very thought arised in my head "I HAVE TO SEE BOB LIVE BEFORE HE DIES!!" At 67 Dylan tours and tours....and tours. Around the world, and then some more. The music just doesn't stop with this man.

The concert took place at MGM grand Theatre of Foxwoods casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The cheapest seats this college student, my sister, and long time friend could find. After selflessly donating our money to the Native American people (gambling), we entered the theatre. I did not know what to expect! I was going to see BOB DYLAN! In person! Something I don't think I still can comprehend. He opened up with Leopard Skin Pill-Box Hat, I liked what I was hearing but my untrained ear couldn't seem to peice together what songs were what, and what words he was saying on many songs. BUT IT DIDN'T MATTER! The music was so powerful and heart thumping. I felt I was being punched in the chest! The experience spoke for itself, I didn't need to hear the words. A song I was so happy to hear was Chimes of Freedom, a song that is defenitly in my top ten.

He ended with an AMAZING version of Thunder on the Mountain (His new stuff is amazing). After a bow and a standing elevation, Bob and HIS BAND came back out with Like a Rolling Stone and ended with the song attached, Along the Watch Tower. (Not the same exact live performance)

Seeing the man in the flesh was hard to comprehend, and this entire thing brought me much closer to the modern Dylan and how great this man's music STILL is to this day. It opened me up to how awesome his band is! The entire concert was all business, just music, just ROCK, no show boating, No fuckin around. KICK ASS AND TAKE NAMES!!

The one blurry shot I got! IT WAS SO POWERFUL THAT THE CAMERA COULDN'T REGISTAR! HE IS ON THE KEYBOARD!

nice post after a year absence...I should work this hard on homework.
