Okay, I've removed the mp3. I think it's stupid that, on a site where we're supposed to have discussions about music, I feel like I'm talking to a wall. I'm not a comment whore, but I did put some work into this and I'd appreciate feedback.Anyway, down to the review:Track Four - Cath..."Cath..." is a track that stirs mixed emotions in me. Enough has been changed that I feel that it's not the same
Okay, I've removed the mp3. I think it's stupid that, on a site where we're supposed to have discussions about music, I feel like I'm talking to a wall. I'm not a comment whore, but I did put some work into this and I'd appreciate feedback.Okay, so... there's a new Death Cab album out. And it is, obviously, wonderful. It's also unlike anything they've done previously. Ben Gibbard's lyrics are mo...
One of my favorite songs of all time has to be Brand New Colony. It's just spectacular. The imagery and the clever writing and catchy yet "smooth" tune, coupled with the great electronic music, really make this song a masterpiece. I think that it is often overshadowed by "Such Great Heights", and, while I love that song, I must confess that I enjoy this one more.First, it opens with a distinct ser
The first post of two celebrating being happy about a relationship. =DThis song is called "Be Still My Heart" and I think it's incredibly overlooked. It appeared on the We Will Become Silhouettes EP by The Postal Service.I would go on and talk about all the lyrics and how they really are just... wow, but I don't want to spoil it for you. So give it a listen and see what you think.
Okay, I was trying to figure out which song to post about this. Last night, I went to the movies with a girl that I've liked for a long time and it went really well, and it made me very happy, and things are going great. So... I tried to think of a good song for it. One that was, like, perfect.I considered and rejected these songs for various reasons:20th Century Towers (DCfC): I like the ending,
This song is a particular favorite of mine. Most likely you guys have heard of Sam Cooke. If not, then... it's a good thing you're reading this.Sam Cooke was a very influential soul artist and producer, responsible for the classic "A Change Is Gonna Come" (which was released after his death), a song that was about the Civil Rights Movement and struggles faced by African-Americans.This is not, h...
This song is a bit of a departure in taste for me (as far as the singer goes), so let me explain how I got around to hearing it. A girl (we're kinda... in a relationship, it's complicated, so I'll just be simple for you) sent me the lyrics because she thought I'd enjoy them. I did. So I bought the song from iTunes, and, well, wow. The voice almost made me turn it off, because I was about to dismis
This is one of my all-time favorite songs, ever. Yes, my favorite band is Death Cab for Cutie, and yes, most of my favorite songs are by them. That being said, I absolutely love this song. It's so catchy and energetic, and I love the little random thing before the opening ("Time to put zee earphones on!" "NO!").Anyway, I haven't heard a great amount of The Shins, but it seems to me that their forte
I think that one of their most criminally overlooked albums from the past few years has been B is for B-Sides.B is for B-Sides is a collection of tracks that were left out from their album Anthem, and I really really like those songs (except "Jay Frenzal"). It's kind of like Anthem, Part Two... but not. The style is an interesting blend of their older stuff and their newer stuff. You hear a lot of
GrooveLily is probably my favorite overlooked band. They are, to be sure, one of the few bands my sister has recommended to me that I've wound up enjoying.Anyway, you'll need a little backstory for this song (I'll try not to write too much): it's from a musical that they put on off-Broadway around every New Year's or so called Striking 12. Pick up the album from iTunes... I *highly* recommend i...
