Just to justify the fact that I bought the Once soundtrack less than an hour after it won an Oscar, I want to mention that I've been eyeballing this movie and its music for a while. First, there were the endless drive-time plugs on NPR, then the recommendation of a saxophone player whose opinion of all things entertainment has, over the years, been a pretty reliable touchstone. I even almost rented the movie on my last trip to the video store, but I wasn't in the mood to have my heart broken. I had heard other tracks from the movie, but I heard Falling Slowly for the first time tonight, and Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova's performance and speeches were so great that I couldn't put off buying the album any longer. But lest ye think I just jumped on the bandwagon, think ye again. (c:
Oh, and as you might've suspected, it's bloody good. I knew that before I bought it though, and the fact remains that I have difficulty articulating my experience with music. Maybe when I've had time to stew on it....
