Big Country - Wonderland Mini LP

Posted 11 months ago

I just have to share this with people who appreciate good music or else I'll burst - I just got Big Country's 1984 Wonderland mini LP!!! Found it in a second-hand record shop!!! Can't believe it as I've been looking everywhere for original BC records ever since I discovered them a year ago - I have nearly all their CDs, but there's just something special about owning an actual record that was realised at that time... people who got into them when they started out won't appreciate what it's like for a seventeen-year-old Big Country fanatic who never got the chance to experience them first-hand! Ironically, it feels as if my second-hand record is somehow giving me that opportunity, in some weird, inverted kind of way... Anyway, enough rambling - blame my incoherence on my sheer delerium at finding that LP!! And a week before Christmas and all - what better present could you give yourself?! My housemates, who are all around my age and have never heard of BC (philistines!!!!) must've thought I was stark raving bonkers when I ran in the door screaming: "I found Wonderland!!!!!!!".... I'm surprised they didn't ask me if I met Alice along the way!!

I think I still have the cassette of this I bought back in that there "day". :)

Never bought much after this and The Crossing, but got back into them in the early 00's and have a huge love and respect for their music. I always did, but it's a living thing, not dormant anymore. :)

    Congrats on your find!!

Stuart Adamson was a lovely chap way back when. When he was still in the Skids, I used to have a few pints with him in the Baillie Bar in Stockbridge most Monday nights when gigs were on at nearby Tiffany's - did you know that he was in the audience at Bob Marley's london Lyceum gig in 1975?

Up in my attic, I still have on vinyl the first few records he ever masde, including the Skids' "Charles" EP on No' bad Records, released way back in 1978.

You'll be amazed at what can sometimes turn up on here.
