The BBC has been criticised for focusing too much attention on Michael Jackson's death in its news coverage.

BBC newsroom head Mary Hockaday has defended the coverage saying that Jackson was a globally known star.
The coverage by the BBC's News channel included a rolling report following reports of Jackson's death last Thursday night. The story went on to dominate bulletins across the BBC's TV and radio output across the weekend....click here for more

People in the UK complain about everything! We aren't happy if we're not complaining.
I think I blame Big Brother for this - after viewers complained about the Shilpa Shetty/Jade Goody incident, they realised TV channels actually listened to viewers, now we complain whenever we can.
For example, "Sachsgate" where radio listeners heard Jonathan Ross make a lewd phonecall to Andrew Sachs resulted in 2 complaints from listeners. After it hit the papers, people who hadn't even heard the show started complaining - I think the total hit 2000!
[/end rant]
I've not seen much coverage on TV - more in the papers and on the radio. I, personally, don't think it's over the top.
