I have an affinity for this song. Have you ever stopped dead in your tracks in the middle of your day-be it at work, home, walking down the street-and think to yourself "I've got to get away." Well, I have. I'll find my life getting too routine for comfort and need to shake things up a bit, so I do and sometimes a little too much. But, the idea is, is that sometimes we need to get away from the life we're living and try another one out. A person shouldn't stay walking the same path, retracing their steps day in and day out. Eventually, those tracks will become too deep and it will become impossible to step out of them. I don't want that to happen. Although I have the feeling sometimes that it may be too late, I find myself stepping out of the worn path I've made. The footprints I've made are kind of deep, but not deep enough to stop me.Anyhoo, this is my new favorite "warm-weather-escape" jingle. I like to ride in my Subbie (my nickname for my car), windows down, and imagine what life would be like on an island in the blue bay...

Universalis says Who never dreamed of this, be someone else for an hour or a day, live another life... or change self way of life to match own new expectations. No one walks in his own tracks forever. I remember an old man told me one day he's been doing the same job for his whole life, walked the same path each day, talked to the same people too, and anyway, the path was different every day, the job evolved as well, and the people all had new things to tell when a new day came. What is important is not the path or track you follow, but the way you are walking it, and how wide open you can keep your senses to appreciate what your day/life has to offer. It's never too late to change for another path, but it's often not too early when i actually start doing it :)))

I think what I enjoy the most is appreciating the things that maybe the person next to me won't. The smell of a wood fire, a smile from an old couple walking their dog, the warmth of the sun, budding trees, tulips poking through the ground and the invention of training wheels (not for me, but for a couple of ponytailed little girls I saw on my walk) are all things that I've appreciated today. Sturgell says Whenever the feet itch, I scratch. I've dropped everything at a few points in my life and just picked up and moved somewhere. It's not for everyone, but if it's your bag it's one of the best sensations in the world; ??seek adventure??

Nella Mia Anima says I definitely am seeking adventure. I have a mini one planned in 4 weeks. Acutally heading out to your side of the Estados Unidos. A Portland, Seattle, Vancouver swing that I'm pretty thrilled about going on. It will feed the hunger pangs for awhile, but then will probably just make my feet itch ;-) ha

Redington Beach, one of the softest! : ) Seriously, it sounds like you're very in touch with what you need to be happy, so you'll know when it's time to move on. Have a safe trip Northwest. There's got to be some great shows in Seattle or Portland to catch.

Nella Mia Anima says Haha I used to travel quite a bit with my last job, and I know how good those Hilton beds can be...enjoy it! ha I've learned that I need balance in my life, not too much of one thing or the other, but just enough to keep me satisfied =) Thanks for the well wishes for my trip. And you are absolutely right about the shows. I'm actually going to catch City & Colour in Seattle, which I'm thrilled about. Have you heard of them?
