26 Jun 07 - The Verve have just announced they're back together - despite Richard Ashcroft recently saying in an interview that a reunion was never going to happen. The band split up in 1999 despite having massive hits from their breakthrough album Urban Hymns with the likes of Bittersweet Symphony and Lucky Man following increasing tension between frontman Ashcroft and guitar player Nick McCabe. But today it's been revealed that the original line-up of Ashcroft, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury were back recording together in a London studio last week. After a summer break, they will then return to the studio to complete their next album and the band have also unveiled a live arena tour for November. It calls at : Friday 2 Nov: Glasgow AcademySaturday 3 Nov: Glasgow AcademyMonday 5 Nov: Blackpool Empress BallroomTuesday 6 Nov: Blackpool Empress BallroomThursday 8 Nov: London RoundhouseFriday 9 Nov: London RoundhouseTickets go on sale on Friday 6 July. For further information please go to: www.theverve.tvThe band have had a turbulent history since forming in Wigan in 1989. They released their first album A Storm In Heaven in 1993, but they band remained very much a cult entity rather than a mainstream success. The band then had publicised problems with drugs and were sued by jazz label Verve. They then split for the first time in 1995, just after recording their second album A Northern Soul.Following what seemed like their final split after touring Urban Hymns, Pete Salisbury has drummed with Richard Ashcroft during his solo career, as well as working with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Nick McCabe has worked on a number of projects, but none of them with much success. However, Simon Tong who is now a member of Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad And The Queen and is not thought to be rejoining The Verve . Asked recently if the band would ever get back together, Ashcroft replied: "You're more likely to get all four Beatles on stage.".Jody Thompsonhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/
