New Order split?

Posted almost 5 years ago
Peter Hook claims this time it’s for real.04 May 07 - It looks like it could be the end for Manchester legends New Order. You may feel like you’ve heard this one before, but bassist Peter Hook says that he and singer Bernard Sumner have gone their separate ways and are no longer working together. It came out in an interview with Xfm’s Clint Boon; while talking about his collaboration with Jayne’s Addiction front man Perry Farrell, he said:"I spoke to Perry, and he asked me to play bass, as he'd heard about New Order splitting up. Well yeah, me and Bernard aren't working together.""It's like the boy who cried wolf this time."Peter HookThe band has had some quite lengthy quiet spells over the years as its members have pursued side projects, but New Order have always remained a going concern. When asked if the split was permanent, however, Hook replied: "Bernard went off for a break with Electronic, but that was different. But it's like the boy who cried wolf this time."Earlier this year the band denied reports they were about to split up, after drummer Stephen Morris was quoted as saying: "We should stop for a while."Lucy O'Doherty bbc6music.co.uk

  2. SamTheButcher says What with all the bands getting back together, I think I'd be okay with NO splitting up for good. They've had an incredible go, and I'd be somewhat interested in hearing what they got up to apart. That said, I've always hated Electronic. I thought it sucked. Never found a song I liked.

  6. Rawkkiddoh says It is a sad day for me, found out today and it sucks. While Sam may not have liked new order, I was a big fan. For those of you who are looking to fill your New Order needs, you should really try the band The Other Two. The Other Two are Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert of New Order. The band name refers to the fact that the other New Order members, Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook, had already released solo records when the first Other Two record, the single "Tasty Fish," came out 1991 and peaked at 41 in the charts.

  10. Jonh Ingham says But, really, when did they last record anything you cared about hearing? They're like the Queen, nice to have around so that life feels like it has continuity. Really great old music choice.
