Grinderman

Posted over 2 years ago
No Pussy Blues..Foul-mouthed, noisy, hairy, and damn well old enough to know better, Grinderman are Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos.Born of babbling lyrics hatched from Bosch eggshells in the Hyde-bound apocalyptic margins of the Cave brain, the Grinderman sound is an instinctual yawlp that also resurrects the demons of each musician’s past: the trashcan proselytising of Birthday Party -era Nick; Sclavunos' late 70s New York no-wave noise wisdom; Martyn Casey’s ominous Triffids bass reverb; plus Ellis' avant-garde soundtrack work and his teenage love of Black Sabbath.. http://www.myspace.com/grinderman

  8. RobinH says Hey Neill, did you catch the Grinderman feature on the Culture Show last night (Saturday). Great interview with the band. Nick Cave was in fine form. I thought they could have got a better interviewer - he seemed more interested in putting across his own opinions of the 'work'. You could see Nick getting a tad miffed when he tried to liken it to Ziggy Stardust era Bowie. I find the Culture Show often has great content that they seem to have no idea how to present, or get the most out of.
