A Certain Ratio

Posted over 2 years ago
WARNING; INDIE FUNK ALERT. (Stay behind the line unless you want to dance...).Shack Up (1980)..A Certain Ratio is a Post-punk band formed in 1977 in Manchester, England. While originally part of the punk rock movement, they soon added funk and dance elements to their sound. The bands exploration of rhythm fusing funk, disco, punk and Latin has had a resurgence in the last few years and their influence can been seen on bands such as The Rapture. In 2002 Soul Jazz Records started a program of reissues of ACR's albums and difficult to find tracks. Although the band does not play full time, they continue writing, recording, and performing..http://www.acrmcr.com/.Wild Party & Inside (1985)..Filling in the gaps. No.62http://mog.com/Neill/blog_post/29537.I saw this band so many times in the 80's because they where always supporting New Order! New album due this year....

  1. Jonh Ingham says Thanks for reminding us about them. They always had that fresh twist on the funk that made you sit up and listen. Good to know they're still at work.

  3. Dale says And, of course, they always supported New Order b/c Tony Wilson was bound and determined to make them huge. At least, that's how 24 Hour Party People made it look. I don't mind, b/c "Shack Up" and "Do The Du" are so much fun.

  8. Lilithk says yeah that first album was good. I didn't care for the second. But to tell you the truth I never liked New Order. I always liked Joy Division better. I liked a couple songs but didn't really get into them.
