WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Classical Music

Posted over 2 years ago
Standing it front of my CD collection last week, when it dawned on me that I had 20+ Classical CD’s but that none of them where on my computer or Gigabeat. Now I’ll be the first to admit that I know absolutely nothing about this subject, but obviously I like this music or I wouldn’t have bought it, so why I have not transferred some of it? Well I usually have my MP3 player on shuffle and you don’t really want a 25 minute piece popping up in the middle of 3 minute tunes. (Or do you?)Most of my Trusted Mogs are into the same kind of Indie/Rock/Electronica as I am, so the question is; if they have any Classical Music, do they like the same Composers as me? (List in Comments…).Emo Philips - Einstein at the Beach..Apocalypse Now - The Ride of the Valkyries.

  1. Neill says You can see I picked most of these up because of Films…. Philip Glass, Handel, Micheal Nyman, Wagner, Elgar, Gustav Holst, John Tavener.

  2. Anonymous says ... People might be more, not less, respectful of the power of Robert Wilson's performance pieces, like "Einstein On The Beach". ... Boy, Emo. You really took avant-garde art down a peg!!! High time someone knocked that crap off its all-powerful, ubiquitous perch!! Makes more room for Jessica Simpson, who I understand wants to share her secrets for "Getting Trim For Your Man".

  3. Wozniak says Philip Glass? Check. Wagner? Check. Emo Philips? I'll have to see now... Add Kronos Quartet, Balanescu Quartet, Amiina, and the classics (Mozart, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, et al) and you've got what I own thus far.

  4. atman says Have you heard "LSO" by Zappa? A lot of people aren't really into classicle because the music doesn't seem that accessible. Well, LSO is even less accessible. I love it. I had it on vinyl. It sounds like two album sides of tuning up.

  5. mutterimieli says Classical..w00p! Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Bach, Shubert, Chopin, Beethoven. Mozart. But not just composers, I love some singers to be of the classical genre, Josh Groban, Il Divo, Andrea Bocelli, Hayley Westenra as well as artists that play the music, like Yo-Yo Ma. Does anyone remember the 80's collections of Hooked on Classics? I wore cassettes out listening the them. Oh, and not really related but The Counting Crows do a great version of Einstein on the Beach (for an Eggman) off the DGC Rarities Vol. 1 Album.

  6. chucky says I have Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven. But, I only really, really like Vivaldi. I also haven't uploaded it though - which sucks, because sometimes I crave it.

  7. david terrar says For me it's a mood thing. The vinyl collection is bigger than the CD collection, and the ones that made it through on to the iTunes/iPod library are my particular favourites - some Elgar, Mozart, Holzt, Copland, Pablo Cassals playing Bach, and lots of guitar music, particularly played by Julian Bream. My favourite classical album being "Music of Spain volume 5 - Julian Bream plays Granados and Albeniz".
