Tindersticks

STOP! Just listen to that voice....Bathtime..Tindersticks are a rock band from Nottingham, England. Their sound is characterised by a synthesis of orchestral backing, lounge jazz, and soul; the lush orchestrations of multi-instrumentalist Dickon Hinchliffe and the smoky baritone of lead vocalist Stuart Staples are the band's hallmarks. Tindersticks have employed electric guitars, as most rock bands have done, but augment their instrumentation with a wide array of instruments: Rhodes piano, glockenspiel, vibraphone, violin, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, bassoon, Hammond organ, and many more are prominently utilised in the music of Tindersticks. The band has a fanatical following in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, although the eclectic and unique sound Tindersticks possesses understandably never made significant inroads in the mainstream..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tindersticks.http://www.beggars.com/banquet/index.htm?../artists/tindersticks/index.htm&0.Tindersticks - donkeys 92 -97.City Sickness..Filling in the gaps. 1. River Lethe says Wow, someone else has heard of Tindersticks! Great music, even though it makes me want to razor my wrists in a bathtub full of icewater. The 9 Short Films dvd is pretty cool as well.

  3. 1234chainsaw says The first two records are simply just awesome, from Stuart Staples's lyrics (which can on occasion also be very funny) to arrangements. And the rest of their oeuvre is pretty good, too. As far as I know, they never made a bad record.

  7. jenipop says "Marbles" appears on, what has to be, the best mix I ever received, through the mail, with line drawing in miniature...inimitably evocative just as I remembered, thank you. What do you think of the soundtrack collaborations with director Claire Denis?

  8. stevegoz says I once spent an entire week in a funk listening to "I Was Your Man" non-stop. No good reason for it, really; I was just struck so by the thought of a girl who had a smile that never reaches her eyes. Stu's 2006 solo album is also pretty darn tootin' good.
