Kimonos was formed in 2010 by Leo Imai and Shutoku Mukai from Zazen Boys.
Their music is a blend of vintage synths, post-punk riffs, heavy beats, and folk lyricism.
Both cold and passionate, both stoical and decadent, both futuristic and nostalgic, their debut album is a fitting soundtrack to the manic intensity of Tokyo City.
Drummer Greg Saunier from Deerhoof and bassist Ichiro Yoshida from Zazen Boys also make ripping guest appearances on the record.

I quite enjoyed that! It's a bit sparse and yet perfectly concentrated, if that makes any sense whatsoever.
I'm seriously questioning the artistic wisdom of being of Asian descent, wearing kimonos in your videos, and being called Kimonos. It's like being Greek, dressing up like Zorba in your videos, and being called The Zorbas.
