New Order Gig

Posted over 5 years ago
New Order are touring the UK at the moment visiting much smaller venues than usual, so not being one to miss out on seeing them at least once per yeah, me and a couple of mates jumped in a car last nite, and drove 140miles to beautiful Wolverhampton. (Even though they played in London last Friday in the toilet known as Wembley Arena – How I hate that place).Found the venue really quickly, parked up, straight into the nearest pub for drinks and to ask anyone wearing a NO t-shirt, who the support was tonite. Various names came up, non of whom we knew, so we decided to stay in the pub until 8:45 getting ‘in the mood’Into the 3000 capacity Civic Hall which is a surprisingly good venue with plenty of bars and toilets just in time to get a round in and position ourselves 1/3 of the way back from the stage. With the Audience chanting ‘New Order, New Order’ they took the stage to the theme from ‘The Good. The Bad and the Ugly’ with Barney retorting; ‘Audience, Audience’As usually over the last 5 or 6 years (Since Barney stopped getting pissed out of his brains) they played a very professional set with 4 or 5 Joy Division songs mixed in with all the usual NO favourites. . Temptation Live in Finsbury Park -I went to that as well!..So what I remember; Regret, Love will Tear us apart, The Perfect Kiss, Bizarre Love Triangle, Blue Monday, Crystal, Who’s Joe, Ceremony, True faith, Temptation,Waiting for the Sirens Call, Isolation and Transmission. (I may have missed or mixed up one or two…)Out for a few more drinks, have a laugh at those wonderful Wolverhampton accents and then back to the hotel….for a few more drinks (I’m not a alcoholic…honest!)

  5. Anna says The closest I've ever been to New Order, was when I saw Peter Hook dj at a club last year. It was the most inspired dj set I've heard yet.

  6. Neill says Yeah, he loves doing Dj sets, had a chat with him and Steve at Finsbury Park a couple of years ago (..had a back stage pass). The both love reminiscing about Joy Division (Hooky still thinks Joy Division where a better band than New Order)
