Musicians; Throw the arrogant Prima Donna’s on the scrap heap….

As the landscape of the industry continues to change, musicians have shown they no longer need record companies to survive or sell their music. Now we can see the industry no longer needs musicians. Check out this example of machines doing it for themselves;
Of course you have got to give them the basics first, but once they are shown the ropes they knock out those tricky solos again and again without a bum note. This robot was programmed to play John Coltrane's magnificent solo from Giant Steps - years of refining his improv chops funnelled into a note perfect rendition in perpetuity. Does it matter that you lose the human emotion?
Radiohead challenged fans to remix their track Nude. One of the most intriguing versions sees the track reinvented on old computer parts. A ZX Spectrum, a dot matrix printer, a bunch of hard drives and a scanner are all you need.
Truly amazing even if it does take 1.40 to get going....
And from machines appropriating the role of musicians, here, conversely, are some musicians who want to be robots. A 30-year-old performance by Kraftwerk from German TV .

Great post..(apologies to Yogi Berra)half humorous,half scary,half cool as fuck.
The Coltrane comment thread on youtube explains my mixed feelings.
This will make it so much easier for a bot like me to get a job in the industry...happy robotic days ahead.
That "Nude" machine cover was brilliant. I didn't know that there was Spectrum's that still work. Gotta ask the question though. Haven't these people got too much time on their hands?
They are students, what do you think?
I call it beep-bop.
