  2. Augusts1 says I had no idea there was a school that was responsible for all those singers. And Amy almost looks healthy at her grammy performance!

  3. Mike the Knife says That's remarkable. Fond of many alumni. BTW, imagine my bemusement when I watched the first episode of the delightfully sleazy TV series "Secret Life of a Call Girl" (starring the delectable Billie Piper) and realized that "You Know I'm No Good" was its theme song. Heh.

  4. Neill says When 'Secret Life of a Call Girl' was first shown in the UK last year, you should have seen the shock, horror and glee in the newspapers that Billie's breast's are on full view in episode 3 or 4......

  6. Jo says Funny how you turned the conversation to Billie Piper, alumni of that other performing arts school producing so many stars, Sylvia Young's. By the way, correct me if I'm wrong but I think Lily Allen is another Brits School alumni.

  7. Mike the Knife says Mea culpa. Not acquainted with Sylvia Young's school, but, if it has produced anything like the Brit School alumni roster, I'm duly impressed.

  8. Jo says Sylvia Young's appears to produce mainly 'performers' (soap stars, spice girls, boy band boys etc.), whereas it appears Brits focus more on creation in addition to performing. That said, Billie Piper turned from poppy manufactured child star to rather impressive actress.

  9. Mike the Knife says Yeah. I was under the impression that Billie was the Brit Britney (with all of the shallowness that implies) until I saw her two seasons of "Doctor Who." Beautifully finessed character arc, great interplay with a couple of classically-trained co-stars, and lots of charm. Eventually caught the video of "Honey to the Bee." Surprisingly palatable girl-pop with a modicum of soul. Now, the U.S. will get a run of "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" on Showtime cable. ("Diary" - not "Life." I mislabeled it in my first comment.) Curious to see the stateside reaction.
