WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Is this my last nice Concert Ticket?

Posted about 1 year ago
I used to try and collect all my concert tickets (to be honest, I usually got drunk, fell over and lost them) and when I had enough I would stick them in a picture frame;...So when Postman Pat delivered, what could well be one of my last non-eTickets today it brought a smile to my face. OK, it's just a copy of the album sleeve but it looks so much better than an eTicket and adds something to the upcoming event...Like album sleeves concert tickets are becoming another lost art which used to be such a large part of being a music fan..Alexandra Palace is a pretty big place; I hope they bring a orchestra with them;

  2. Shud33 says Very impressive! Although, I have to admit Neill, I am jealous. My Interpol concert ticket didn't look like that. :( It wasn't fancy at all. It was a great show though. Enjoy!

  3. Dale says Sigh, I've never had a concert ticket that looked that nice. Must be a UK thing. Still, it would be a pity to see it die.

  5. Anna says I'm not looking at your collection too closely, in case I see something titled Joy Division :P I keep mine, too. My "problem" is not so much e-tickets, but the fact that my name has been on the list for the last 3 years, and I almost never get a physical ticket or invitation. On another note, this is the musical equivalent of "come back home with me, I'll show you my post office stamps collection". And it will work, too, I'd put out for that. hahahhahah :P This is what I could find from mine. Wish I could find them all (I give messy a new meaning; I can't even find my Muse ticket!) and I also wish I could flip this photo (I have no idea why I can't).

  9. SA says Geez, I'm jealous, some amazing looking tickets there. I always got standard tickets with just the band name on them. I do still, however, pin them up on the wall. I've got one wall and I'm afraid to put nails through it, so I tape concert tickets, photographs, theater tickets, or whatever other "memory" to it. And usually it is the first thing my guests go to. ;) You're gonna see them 9 days after me, btw. :)

  10. kristiana says Oooo, nice collages! Can't relate though, all my tickets are artless save one, Misfits w/Nashville Pussy, and I mean...though I did get some cool gear from the Pixies show. Very sad for you though, yes. And yeah, just like the dying art of album sleeves. Though some are making attempts. Thanks for sharing!

  18. Joxley says Very nice...although for some reason at the Academy up here they have a strange system of collectin the entire ticket at the satrt of the gig, then handing out the stubs on the way out, at best you end up with someone else's crumpled and half-eaten ticket, or worse miss out on receiveing one due to the melee at the exit.

  20. Jenn67 says Those are gorgeous, Neill! Must be a European thing and a good one at that. All my concert tix are from Ticket Bastard (or some facsimile thereof) and all look alike; only the band, venue and date are different. *yawn*

  21. soulrocket says nice artworks. i wished i had kept my tickets, most of them ended in the washing machine inside the back pocket of my jeans. it may be a european thing, tickets are suposed to look great over here... there is a sense of cheapness when tickets or flyers look bad.

  22. QueenofHell says I love collecting ephemera. Arcade Fire ticket, not doubt a collector's pice. Shame part of it will be ripped off. Great pics, Neill.

  23. darmuzz says Beautiful collection; I have all mine except the cheap venues where you pay at the door and get a hand stamp or a beer ticket! And mine all look drab, very little art.

  28. Jo says Love the post, love the pictures, and yes I do love holding on to my concert tickets (the collection even includes a pair of unused Aerosmith tickets, to this day I've still not made up for missing out on that gig); such a shame most of the tickets nowadays are thermally printed and fade away over time, or replaced on the night with a wrist band (not that I mind the wrist bands, I just wish I could hold on to the actual ticket - minus stub - as a souvenir as well) - must dig up all the 'oldies' (the ones I haven't lost over time) to scan/photograph and post on my MOG, will add that chore to my TTD :)
