Happy Sunday you glorious moggers you. It's clear blue skies and 75 here in NYC. Whoa!
So last week I posted my version of Beethoven's "Fur De Lis" and this week it's The Small Faces "All or Nothing."
After watching the live video of the original below, I think it was quite a dubious move on my part! Steve Marriott is a rock legend, but the song has just always moved me and I couldn't resist doing it.
Producer Mike 'Slo-Mo' Brenner's steel magic is all over my version and I just tried to keep it real simple and real perty. Getting a bit more of the longing in there and a bit less of the rock n roll preening (though of course, there's nothing wrong with that)!
But as always, a well writen song can stand up to many interpretations. Just listen to Dylan's new bootleg volume 8 and you can hear that very clearly.
I'm gonna see if I can append this post with the live version of the tune that was my first experience with this song (though new mog didn't let me do that last time I tried). When I first heard it, a powerful, emotive tingling ran right down my spine. I thought my heart would leap out of my chest. And no matter how many times I listen to it, the same thing happens.
Hope ya dig and don't be afraid to tell me I've gone mad by covering a perfect tune like this.

not mad at all, and this is the perfect backdrop to my sunday night. Kudos, you are doing something some of us (like myself) only dream about when listening to music
N.N.! One of my all-time fave tunes recalibrated and done to a faretheewell! Fab job!
done to a faretheewell and a perfect backdrop to your sunday evening!?
i think i can hit the sack now, knowing my work is done here!
thanks so much guys, very appreciated
Great interpretration, great album cover, and great name for the thing too... rock on brother.
thanks van
the back cover has a few very funny characters as well including my mog Bond display shot and this sort of Royal Tenenbaums inspired lunatic
they were all taken one frigid saturday afternoon in Queens at my friend's apt, certainly a fun day of dress up
that didn't work, will try it again
LOL!!! That's classic...
That's a great interpretation, which is the only way to cover a song. And this is a complement: you sound like a mellowed Steve Marriott. Love all the guitars swirling away as well. Flex that bicep with pride. Though perhapsleave the headband at home.
fantastic john, thank you
a mellow steve marriott is a huge compliment
but if it weren't for the headband, i'd just look like a shithead
now i look like a funny shithead
