Vinyl Envy! The Mother of All Record Collections
Just posting a link to a great blog that recently ran on DustandGrooves.com about a friend of mine, Steven Blush. It was written by Eilon Paz, a brilliant photographer. Take a look below and click on this link to read the full article and see what I'm talking about.
Steve and I met a few years back at Don Hill's when he used to book my rock band, THIS. Always a nice guy and even nicer when he tapped us to be included on his compilation entitled New York City Rock n Roll. Unfortunately, as a result of this article, I think I might have to break into his apt, change the locks, and park there for a few weeks!
Enjoy...
Steven Blush, a music journalist from NYC. we met over a dinner with his wife Alyssa who is a mutual friend. only after few weeks, I discovered this amazing and eclectic collection hidden in Steven's apartment on 5th ave. Hard core music, cheesy pop, loads of signed records, and an almost full catalogue of Black Flag. I was happy to enter this world of music which a I knew so little about. the cherry on top was discovering another music genre I didn't even knew existed... Hair Metal!!! Yeahhh!!!
so, my friends, it's time to pull those well buried tight leather pants and hit the power chords with great pride. rock on, yehhhhhhh!!! (please scream)

hah......even the damned photos are cool!
the wall of physical product is impressive
though i can't tell if there are any 8 tracks up there!
Aunty Em! I'm home!
There seem to be so many in this city of small living space with a plethora of recorded music..Some folks have so much they rent storage for it. Not me. I have a friend with a big basement.
That's amazing- and real good interview, Neil.
It makes me feel so good that someone else is collecting all those records and not me!
is that what your attic looked like jonh before the big ebay sell off?!
perhaps there should be a giant museum/library with all the vinyl ever recorded that rivals alexandria before the romans burned it down
lucky you cody, i've stored things in my building's basement and they usually are never to be seen again
I managed to keep it to about 3 shelves high of what he has and about half those CDs. Plus a few hundred cassettes. When you move a lot, keeping the records manageable is a real priority. That and a big garage at your parents house.
i've been banned from my parent's garage unfortunately
but if they'd just give me that treadmill they use as a coat hanger, i could definitely maximize that 10 cubic feet of space and improve my cardiovascular strength immensely!
:-)
Simply a brilliant article and I enjoyed it immensely. I would call 30 or 40 hours to look through that collection a gift - nice is an understatement.
