Outrageous Cherry

I heard this band on the Black Snake Moan soundtrack and picked up their album.Really smooth, digable, trippy and all that. Definitely some Velvet Underground vibes. Lots of great songs and catchy choruses. This one makes me smile.

  2. anna log says matthew smith is the genius behind outrageous cherry, thtx, volebeats and probably more bands by now. he produced the first record by the go (who i saw in LA the other night! damn they rocked. bobby finally has it together as a performer AND a producer!), and he has worked with kevin ayers, nathaniel mayer, kim fowley --- i mean... there is no limit to matt's creativity.

yes - outrageous cherry do have several albums out, and each of them is a gem.

i am so happy to see OC getting the love here!

  6. mister gary at work again says I think I'm the only person in the world (I'm pretty sure at least the only person raised in Detroit) who likes The Volebeats better than Outrageous Cherry - not to say I don't dig on O.C. I guess I'm just a fan of the country Smith stuff better. I get a huge kick out of the Volebeats 'country-fried' cover of Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain" (featuring ex-Big Chief'er Phil Durr on lead guitars), but the original stuff's good, too.
