December African Rain

Posted about 1 year ago

This was our lion, our tiny taste of Africa; who left a humungous Oliver-shaped hole in our lives on March 10. I don't really know why I'm grieving so publicly all of a sudden, but maybe it's because a fine and beloved friend deserves a fine and loving tribute.

I'm sorry for your loss.  Our fifteen-year-old dog went to the heavenly choir a few weeks ago.

I sympathize.  I am not looking forward to the loss of our beloved pets after all the years.

Excellent Johnny Clegg and Juluka song.

It's been that kind of a month around these parts too, although of the human variety. A loss is a loss. I still miss some wonderful pets from years back. I had a cat named "Colonel Mustard" who was amazing. He was more like a dog. He'd jump up into your arms if you snapped your fingers and he played fetch. It's been over 10 years but I still miss him. I'm sorry to hear the news.

Thanks for the song, Spike, and comments everyone. So sorry to hear about your dog - Oliver was 15, too.  Not long enough!   Good to hear from animal lovers. Animal love is the most uncomplicated kind - I think that's why we miss them so very much, even after years and years and years.  At least the grief is correspondingly pure and uncomplicated.
