I had a great day at work, and a pretty big part of the greatness was thanks to having Arcade Fire playing for most of the time. Posting Wake Up while I head out to the porch to wind down and watch the bats defy gravity in the dusk.

did you say bats? one of the few creatures that I really am afraid of, the arcade fire not so much
they (the bats) are so ungainly in the air, looks like a lot of work, but they persevere. a few years ago the kids called me downstairs to get a bat off the living room drapes because their Dad was freaked out & staying as far away as possible. of course I thought it was a joke - because how the heck would a bat come to be on the drapes? - and said "nice try" & reached for it, and then it squeaked at me, holy moly, what a surprise. Had to get my leather mouse-catching gloves to get him off there and into a cage or the Dad would have moved out (to your house, R!) It was a family pet for a few days, all the neighbourhood kids came over to see, and then we found a nice spot up the mountain to release him. They're freaky little dudes, alright.
