An exceptional unit. While not doing anything exactly "new", the breadth and weight of the music is spellbinding. This music tunnels into the body in a way that I haven't experienced since the demise of Swans. In fact, Nadja shares the same brutalist aesthetic as Michael Gira's landmark undertaking. Like Swans, Nadja is violent, seductive, mysterious, enticing, and foreboding. Sheer brilliance.

I have just recently discovered the whole drone/sludge/doom metal thing. I was abit skeptical at first (mainly coz I shy away from anything to do with metal) but now I'm a big fan. Early Swans is a good comparison. Nadja reminds me somehow of 90s industrial-metal crossover act Nerve, but Nadja are way more intense, way more absorbing. I love them, and love Baker's solo stuff too.
