With his "None More Better" post, Dachmo recently inspired me to think hard about a song (or piece of music) that was the most beautiful to me. Certainly one of the most beautiful would be "Portrait Of Tracy" by Jaco Pastorius and I'll make that my vote for now. But ask me next week and the answer could be different.
Music has the ability to reach deep inside and it has tricks up its sleeves for doing so. Lyrics can talk to your thoughts and feelings, melodies can inspire your emotions, rhythms can tap into your heartbeat. It's different for everyone (beauty is in the ear of the beholder so to speak) and yet it's universal in its power.
So why "Portrait Of Tracy"? Well, hearing this genius never fails to make me sad that he's not around any more. That, combined with the pure, perfect harmonic harmonies (!) that he conjures from his bass strings, makes this one of the extra special and beautiful pieces of music that I've ever experienced. Whoever Tracy was, I'm sure she was beautiful too.

The few that have picked up on this thread have in return posted songs much like yours. Soft, natural, slightly ethereal and so far mainly related to women. Thanks for the contribution. I'd love to hear more if you think of something new next week. Who can't use a little more beauty in their lives?

Heheh,
Glad you liked it. Oh, maybe you didn't, 'cause the "like" count's still at 1 ;-)
Whatever, I'm planning on posting plenty more stuff that I think is beautiful although I'll have a tough time matching your prolific posting rate!
Cheers Dachmo.

I remember being sad when Pastorius died. Such a talent. Dry Cleaner from Des Moines is the one for me.

Dry Cleaner from Des Moines...I only know the version on Mingus. Do you have the live recording (on Anthology I think)? If yes, wanna post it?
Cheers.
