Shades of Nick Drake? – Fink

"Fink" is the stage name of Finian Greenhall, a one time electronica whiz turned acoustic singer songwriter from Bristol, England (not to be confused with a German metal band of the same name).Despite the drastic change in style, his label retained him to release several albums (and counting) in the new style. Wise decision. He has a warm, compelling tone and writes great songs. He's great live too!Enjoy.

Bartleby says MM, you and I must be on the same cosmic psychic zone... Fink was one of my obsessions last year mainly because it was the soundtrack for an advert promoting the "pricelessness" of living on credit. (see post here) On a more musical note, I guess the beat machine would have appealed to Nick who liked nothing more than DYI music, as it were.

MusikMagik says yah, i think we are quite musically aligned. Funny, I've been thinking about that subject quite a bit recently. I'm contemplating making a post on that general topic. There's another singer / songwriter in the same vein as Fink that I stumbled upon recently...can't recall the name but also very enjoyable..any ideas?

MusikMagik says OK I've searched thru my library - I think it was Jon Redfern that I had in mind. However, having listened to a few tracks, there' not too much similarity to Fink at all! Redfern is from Brighton, which is where Fink is based. He plays acoustic guitar fingerstyle and sings a little like Nick Drake and John Martyn like Fink does...but he doesn't "groove" like Fink. I'll post a cover he did of a John Martyn tune (seeing as it's Sunday).
