  2. Max Load says I have mixed feelings about this. I've always like his bass, but the general sound of this reminds be of what I remember as a very bland period in music. All technical excellence, but I sometimes struggle to get in the mood for it. BTW, MM, checkout http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Steve_Gadd.html !!

  3. MusikMagik says Ah well, not to worry. Now, why Steve Gadd? Great drummer for sure, although I don't have any of his solo stuff (fancy posting something?). ...but what a phenomenal resource that site is! Incredible!

  4. MusikMagik says Ah, I found the video - Miller AND Clapton. Very cool! Thanks for this Max!

  5. Max Load says Was more because Steve Gadd was the man on all the late 70s jazz funk stuff. I very top of the range drummer. However, seeing as you mention it ... (Gadd, Miller, Clapton et al. )

  6. MusikMagik says Indeed he was. Reminds me of the old joke; "How does a drummer change a lightbulb?" "He gets together with a bunch of other drummers and they spend an hour discussing how Steve Gadd would do it" ...or something along those lines :-)

  7. Bartleby says As I said in other places, the bass is a subdued instrument and it takes all kind of theatrics for the public to accept it. Marcus Miller's style may be construed as such but he doesn't forget the feelings in favour of the virtuosity. Lovely and funky to me... Ta!
